Known watch-points for a 2011 ZCP S65
Rod bearings — already addressed. BMW switched the S65's rod bearing material from copper/lead to tin/aluminium
around mid-2010, so a 2011-build car like this one likely left the factory with the later-spec bearings. Independent shops
report this material change didn't meaningfully reduce the well-known S65 rod bearing failure risk on its own — but it's
moot either way here, since this car already had a full preventive rod bearing and uprated actuator replacement in March 2021
(Evolve uprated actuators + ARP rod bolts), which is the change that actually matters for long-term risk.
Throttle body actuators — already addressed. Failing throttle actuators (limp mode, DSC/EML warning lights) are one
of the two most commonly cited S65 weak points across every model year, unrelated to production date. This car had its
actuators replaced with uprated units in July 2021, which — per the parts data available — should outlast the factory units.
359M "Competition" wheels — cast, not forged. Despite some marketing material describing them as forged, the factory
ZCP-spec 19" 359M wheels are cast aluminium and about 3 lbs heavier per corner than the optional forged 220M wheels — and
cast wheels are more prone to cracking or bending from potholes and kerb strikes than forged ones. This isn't a mileage-based
wear item, so it's not in the gauges above, but worth a periodic visual/runout check given Singapore road conditions,
particularly after any hard hits.
Suspension — ZCP-specific, and already refreshed. The Competition Package uses a 10mm-lower ride height with unique
springs and EDC damper tuning rather than different core components — the front/rear EDC absorbers, bumpstops and top mounts
this car had replaced in May 2022 were logged as "competition" spec, consistent with what a ZCP car needs (not the standard
M3's parts).
